Question to southern people with southern accents.?

Do you guys get offended when people make fun of southerners by stereotyping them as redneck with deep southern accents, living in trailer parks? or do you guys take it as a joke?
No more so than you guys do when we describe you as Yankee Liberal Communists, based on your accent.

It depends entirely on the context. I usually can TELL whether the innuendo is intended as a joke or a genuine slur. I tend to go into DEFENSIVE mode when I detect a genuine slur.
I am an Electronics Engineer. I also have a ‘ heavy’ Appalachian Hillbilly accent. About 20 years ago I was heading a project involving some ‘ state of the art’ issues. When I called the manufacturer’s support engineer, because of my dialect he assumed I was an ignorant hick who couldn’t understand the ‘abstract concept’ of his device, resulting in me getting some BAD information from him. Needless to say, I shoved it up his anal orifice and embarrassed him before his superiors when I discovered the defect in the device and saved his company hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Bigotry can be practiced in MANY ways…Now, about that war of Northern Aggression….
