  2. BeefSatan says:

3 to 7% of the population owned slaves…all rich, all “progressive”…they still own the blacks today.

  3. 172677 says:

@ickyfatang There was no slave trading in the North, boob. The wealthy in the south started the damned war to protect their way of life – the right to own human beings. Their battle cry was “states rights” to others who were not rich plantation owners–and the average Joe was called to “defend their rights”. Anyone who believes that it was anything other than slavery is simply stupid. And, don’t through your questionable books out there. I’m an historian.

  4. ickyfatang says:

@172677 Then what’s the symbol for the slave-trading north? 3/4 of the soldiers and sailors who fought for The Confederacy did so to defend the way of life of a few wealthy plantation owners? Doesn’t that sound just a little bit fishy to you? Be a man; pick up a book like “The politically incorrect guide to the civil war” – if you learn a few historical facts, you might be able to defend your position.

  5. ickyfatang says:

The north abolished slavery because they couldn’t make it pay. Anyone who believes that they did it for moral reasons must also believe in the tooth fairy. Rather than phase it out slowly, they insisted on immediate emancipation (way into the war, BTW), without regard to how newly freed blacks would live, or where they would go; (the North sure wouldn’t have ‘em). Secession was about Federal intrusiveness into the territories and the flow of tariff $’s into the North with no representation.

  6. ickyfatang says:

@dac8555 Do you know how and why slavery was done away with in the North? Did you know that Mr. Lincoln advocated apartheid? Do you know of the laws that forbade free blacks from immigrating to the north? If you have the guts and the literacy to read “The Politically Incorrect Guide to The Civil War” or “The South was Right”; at least u could defend your position with something other than rants

  7. dac8555 says:

“The reason for the Civil War wasn’t slavery, but for states rights”. yeah. The right to own slaves. I am so tired of this bullshit old argument.

  8. 172677 says:

@jimisback While it’s true there were a few slave owners in the north..there were more indentured, mostly white slaves who spent most of their lives paying off their “masters” for their passage to the new world. The entire south depended upon slavery for everything from food to clothing, from homes to businesses. The slaves built the south completely. Slavery was indeed the cause of the war…and nothing you southern revisionist say will change that fact…even though many of you try.

  9. jimisback says:

@172677 It seems that the North ignores what they did as far as slaves go. The South these days has the highest population of blacks in America. They all know what happened during that time. But the North seems to forget their role in the whole thing. And the man is correct, the Civil war was not fought over slavery. Freedom was the result of it thank God. But not the cause of it.

  10. CannocheeAirsoft says:

@172677 dude everyone know that slavery was fucking evil and were I went to school the blacks and whites got along and still get along with one another. what pisses me off is that northern states act like that there is no racism in the north. P.S. RACISM IS EVERYWHERE NOT JUST THE SOUTH

  11. 172677 says:

@CannocheeAirsoft True…only about 25% owned slaves…but, by 1860, they owned 4 MILLION of them…. As today, the wealthy can afford the luxuries while the average joe cannot. That 25% were the ruling class, mostly plantation owners and politicians. 12 of our Presidents owned slaves. The confederate flag is a symbol of the racist south..and to ignore slavery is an attempt to revise history of the south.

  12. CannocheeAirsoft says:

@172677 you do realize that the majority of whites in the south during the time of the civil war did not own slaves

  13. 172677 says:

@ShunketsuXZ I’m familiar with it. It is simply another “shock-jock”, conspiracy-theorists driven piece of film by those who hide under the bed in fear of the boogey man. Those of us with a brain know that for such things to happen: The entire government and media would have been working together for generations in a gigantic conspiracy and Americans would have to be dumb as a stone to be affected.. This crap has been around since I was a kid in the 50’s. Baloney.

  14. ShunketsuXZ says:

@172677 Then go watch the professional documentary “Programming the Nation”

  15. 172677 says:

@ShunketsuXZ Gee, I regret to tell you that those of us who are intelligent and well-educated don’t turn to YouTube for our education or information. With several million books to choose from and valid, reliable information available on the internet, YouTube is merely a place to spend a few idle hours knocking you nitwits around and getting a few laughs. Some of you folks are really funny…

  16. ShunketsuXZ says:

@172677 Go watch the YouTube documentary “Truth in Reality” from Realityintruth before you ever attempt to talk brainwashing with me. Once you do that I’ll start taking you seriously.

  17. 172677 says:

@MrRightAllTime You fool. By 1850, ALL developed nations had outlawed slavery – starting with the Portuguese in 1793. The ONLY country still holding slaves was …. guess who,,, the U.S. And “whites” have nothing to feel bad about..at least not in the Union states. Our Union forefathers fought to free them…and succeeded.. Today, the south would bring it back in a heartbeat..and had other people of color to the mix.

  18. 172677 says:

@ShunketsuXZ As a very well-educated, extremely smart person, it’s impossible to brainwash me. Only you dumbass boobs are susceptible to such an action. We who possess intellect and intelligence, who are fully functioning human beings – we read, study, research, factcheck, ignoring idiots altogether and finding the FACTS, not some fairy tale shoved down our throats like you people do.

  19. ShunketsuXZ says:

@172677 This comment proves your intelligence, you openly admit that you recognize the fact that conquerors rewrite history yet you’re just spitting out what you’ve been brainwashed to believe.

  20. 172677 says:

@08Hellboy No,that wasn’t it. What ticked off the south was the Kansas-Missouri split. These to new states were at war with each other over whether slavery would be allowed. Kansas passed an anti-slavery law, Missouri armed themselves against it. The Kansas-Nebraska Act overturned the Missouri compromise and all hell broke loose…and led to southern secession…and the war.

  21. 172677 says:

@08Hellboy The cotton from the south was sold to England, numbskull. And, if you truly believe that slavery was just a “minor” reason for the war, you must live in the racist south and attend racist schools down there who teach revisionist history and still revile people of color. The south was still at their bigoted practice right up to the Civil Rights Act of 1964…and today….

  22. 172677 says:

@ShunketsuXZ History is typically written by the conquerers….and rarely contains the full truth. An intelligent person with a brain knows that for the whole truth, many sources must be explored from many places, many types of media, many sources of information. What happened is not subjective or open to whether or not something took place. History IS what it IS and revisionists cannont change it.

  23. 172677 says:

Typical southern redneck racist pig. Racism and bigotry is alive and well in the southland…… Anyone who believes the Civil War was for any other reason than the abolition of slavery is a liar or so damned stupid due to lack of education or is blatantaly racist and would return to those “good old days” when it was perfecty fine to enslave others and deny them rights as humans beings and citizens.

  24. yerallmorons says:

It was the confederacy who wanted to CONTINUE with slavery, and THAT’S the difference. Look, confederate states were still American states. There were two opposing ideologies. Our country (thankfully) abolished slavery. The history of our country’s struggle should be taught in our classes. The good, the bad, and the ugly. After all, our country is about having the freedom to be good, bad and ugly.

  25. Pkr says:

If it wasn’t for the Minimum Wage Laws there would be slavery in the US today… active and alive. The civil War was caused by States wanting to keep slavery.. states rights!
