Is Ebonics just redneck southern talk?

I swear it sounds exactly the same except for a few slang words.

Why do the vast majority of preachers, pastors, etc. always talk in fake southern redneck-like accent?

I’ve always noticed this and even met a few preachers whom faked the accent. Same is true with politicians and others in public positions. This drives me nuts especially watching a foreign preacher *try* to mask their native accent with a redneck one. Is this taught in the seminary and if so, why?
