This is a poem that my younger sister wrote when asked what does the Confederate flag mean to her, anyway, I thought it was so good that I just had to share it with yall. Long Live he Rebellion! -Deo Vindice

In 1860 black slaves in the South outnumbered whites 3 to 2. Whites in the North outnumbered whites in the South by 6 to 1. There were more American Indians alive in 1860 than there were whites in the South. In 1860, 6% of the whites in the south owned 70% of the people and owned 80% of the land. 40% of the whites in the South were either slaves or indentured servants or sharecroppers. The South was owned by the aristocracy on plantations. This is what the confederate flag really means.
@TheBoberton I never said there weren’t blacks fighting for the Confederacy. Just because they fought for the South doesn’t mean they fought for the same cause as the South. Blacks fought for the South because they were forced to because the Confederacy’s military wasn’t large enough. Somewhere around two thirds of the population of the Confederate States of America was made up of African Americans, they had no choice but to draft blacks. Maybe you should go back to fifth grade.

@Hazon02 Maybe you DO need to get those history lessons. There WERE black Confederates that fought with pride, dignity, and valor. Ever heard of the black Confederate sharpshooter that was offered a place in the union army? Here is that story. In April 1862, during the siege of Yorktown, Virginia, a black Confederate sharpshooter perched in a tree was reported by Union soldiers to have “done more injury to our men than any dozen of his white compeers.” (cont)
@FlickaBic09 First of all, before you start telling other people what kind of lessons they should get, maybe you should invest in a grammar lesson. That said, the entire reason the South “rose up” was because of slavery. The Southern States were afraid that the North would have more representation in Congress, which in turn would ultimately lead to the abolition of slavery, so they broke off of the USA. Maybe you need a history lesson, asshole.

people need to do some research on the civil war. free African American’s fought under this flag,. some of which were high ranking officers who made more than white men in the army . union African Americans didn’t get paid to fight . to me this flag doesn’t stand for racism. i believe it is a symbol that the government doesn’t rule us, and if we don’t like how things are we don’t have to just fall in line. in a way it stands for freedom.
